When the seagulls of East Sands started stealing toasties at a rate of up to 30 a day, Sam came up with a typically daft and brilliant solution: Seagull Insurance. For just £1 added to your order, you’re covered for a free replacement if a gull makes off with your lunch.
The idea went viral across the UK, featuring on ITV’s This Morning, BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, The Telegraph, and beyond. But the part we’re most proud of is this: not a single pound of it goes into the till. Every month, the full pot raised from Seagull Insurance is donated to a different cause chosen by Sam and Kate. Since launching in August 2024, our customers have collectively raised over £5,000 and counting.
